I heard a BBC interview with actor John Turturro via ABC newsradio the other day.
It's the best interview with an actor, about acting, that I've ever heard. I was looking around the BBC site to locate it, and the best I can come up with is this HardTalk Extra interview by Patrick O'Connell. You can play the video from that last link, and I think the radio version I heard is an edited soundtrack from there.
I first took notice of Turturro on screen in the 1996 flick Grace of My Heart where he played Joel Millner. Grace of My Heart is the entertaining story of an aspiring singer played by Illeana Douglas.
Part of the background is set against 1960's Tin pan Alley and Burt Bacharach and Elvis Costello composed and played some original music in that vein. Here's the soundtrack, which includes amongst the composers a number of other 60's music luminaries.
As is quoted by Patrick O'Connell, Turturro is an actor's actor.
I am here to say that the interview in question was really a good one. I have it saved and watch it to see his jerking movements from time to time. It helps me to realize that I am not the only person who can't sit still. HA HA He tends to look over his shoulder a lot and off at set pieces of furniture, or his drinking glass. He is figity, and quite amazing in his ways, wouldn't you agree? Seems as though he is simply crawling with ants in his pants. :) Still, yes, this was a great interview. This is my 1st visit to your page, so hello I am Lynette. Thanks for being another Turturro fan! :)

You know Lynette, I haven't really watched much of the video interview. Once I had located it, I just watched a little bit to make sure it was the one I had heard on the radio. I'll go and have a look now to catch his idiosyncracies.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
