Sometimes life raising Edward is not all rosy. There's days when he tries my patience and my ability as a parent. That's when I think back and realise what good parents my Mum and Dad must have been to raise five kids, two of us handicapped.
Julie Reid recounts her childhood here and now as the parent of two infant children herself, appreciates the hard work of her parents even more. Her mother, Etta, and her Father, Fred, were both blind. She opens her story with,
"Mine was a pretty ordinary childhood. But not everyone saw it that way."
Her story is anything but ordinary.
