Apparently it was Napoleon who said, "Every French soldier carries a Field Marshal's baton in his knapsack."

But what does a Field Marshal's baton look like? 

Australia's only Field Marshal, Sir Thomas Blamey's baton looked like this which is a photograph from the National Archives of Australia.
