Several world leaders are presently in town here for the APEC 2007 conference. I read in today's Daily Telegraph that President George W. Bush will visit the National Maritime Museum tomorrow to inspect a ship's bell he presented to Australia in 2001.
My good friend Mackenzie Gregory was there at the Washington Navy Yard on September 10th, 2001 to see the bell of USS Canberra presented to our Prime Minister John Howard. Mac in fact was the inspiration for the presentation of the bell to our nation in the first place. Read Mac's story about the bell presentation here.
